Langtang, Helambu Trek
The Langtang Valley trek takes us to an area of Nepal where the
influence of trekkers is less than other major treks. The valley
became Nepal's second largest national park in 1997 and boasts healthy
forests of rhododendron, fir, blue and chir pine and birch. Wildlife
in the park includes leopard, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, languor
monkeys and the endangered red panda.
We follow local trails up
toward the forbidding high passes into Tibet, through forests and
villages, and into the high alpine pastures used by yak herders
for centuries. In the upper Langtang valley you are very close to
the spectacular snowcapped peaks and will be treated to incredible
mountain scenery along with a unique opportunity to experience the
life and culture of rural Nepal relatively untouched by western
influence
